Job summary

Frontier Cooperative is seeking a capable Operations Manager to drive business and customer strategy across our agri-food network in the Nebraska region, while ensuring safe, efficient facility and equipment operations.

You will collaborate with regional leaders to set goals, manage inventories and personnel, and uphold quality standards across plants and services. Strong leadership and analytical skills are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience; related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of operational management, accounting, budgeting, project management, and quality management.
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Mentoring and coaching ability; able to engage/direct reports and peers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop market plans for new and existing customers with Regional Operations Manager and AG Advisors.
  • Define objectives, implement plans, and evaluate outcomes using business, financial, service and operations data.
  • Enforce customer service standards and resolve complaints; promote improved products and expanded services.
  • Oversee vehicles, machinery, equipment, buildings, and grounds; ensure safety and OSHA/EPA compliance.
  • Manage inventory and supervise Operations Specialists or Custom Applicators at the plant.
  • Monitor for leaks or spills and manage cleanup and disposal; prepare chemical mixes when needed.
  • Monitor for leaks/spills at ammonia stations and coordinate emergency actions as directed.
  • Lead day-to-day plant operations and support safety and regulatory compliance.

What you'll do

Business & customer strategy

  • Collaborate with the Regional Operations Manager and AG Advisors to develop market plans for new and existing customers; stay current on new agronomy products
  • Recommend strategic operational goals by gathering business, financial, service, and operations data; define objectives, implement plans, and evaluate outcomes
  • Enforce customer service standards; analyze and resolve complaints; promote improved products and expanded services in the trade territory

Facility & equipment oversight

  • Manage and maintain proper working condition of vehicles, machinery, equipment, buildings, and grounds
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned regularly to prolong safe operation and promote a positive company image
  • May perform general vehicle, machinery, and equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Follow all company safety standards and comply with OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations

Chemical plant

  • Manage inventory levels by ordering, receiving, and stocking
  • Manage day-to-day operations and supervise Operations Specialists or Custom Applicators assigned to the plant
  • Monitor for chemical leaks or spills and manage cleanup and proper disposal
  • Act as backup to prepare chemical mixes for producers when needed

Anhydrous ammonia station

  • Monitor for leaks or spillage and manage cleanup and disposal; contact emergency management when directed by the Regional Manager
  • Act as backup to complete anhydrous ammonia preparation and transfer for producers
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and agricultural experience
  • Knowledge of operational management, business management, accounting, budgeting, project management, and quality management
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven mentoring and coaching ability; able to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Basic math skills including proportions, percentages, and volume; able to prepare and interpret spreadsheets and graphs
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles, machinery, and equipment
  • Valid operator's license and forklift certification required; CDL Class A with HazMat and Tanker endorsements preferred or obtainable within 60 days
