Job summary

The Gravity Vault is seeking a Location Head Coach to lead weekly Advanced and Competitive Team practices at our Saddle River location. You will mentor coaches, develop curricula, and guide climbers toward competitive success while maintaining a positive, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with staff, onboarding new members, managing dues, and organizing camps or trips. Ability to travel for events is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience bouldering and sport climbing.
• Experience training athletes in all disciplines of climbing at a high level of competition.
• A high level of understanding of advanced climbing movement and techniques.
• USAC Coaching Level 2 Certification: See USAC web page for requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, young athletes and parents.

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly Advanced and Competitive Team practices.
• Coordinate with location coaches and assist with curriculum for Intermediate Team practices.
• Create practice curriculum to improve climbing technique, physical and mental strength, teamwork and competition skills.
• Attend local and championship level competitions; may require extended domestic travel.
• Administer team tryouts and onboarding/offboarding team members.
• Facilitate team promotions within youth programs.
• Coordinate with management to maintain accurate billing of dues.
• Communicate progress with parents via email.
• Facilitate championship prep camps and team camps/trips.
