Job summary

Central Rock Gym is seeking a dedicated youth coach to lead practices and foster a welcoming, growth-focused environment for climbers of all ages. You will introduce fundamentals, build a strong base, and develop a curriculum tailored to youth development.

Ideal candidates will have experience with youth in educational settings, strong communication, and proficiency in top rope belaying. Weekend availability and SafeSport training are valued commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching youth in an educational or athletic setting.
• Strong communication and feedback skills.
• Familiarity with climbing safety and belay techniques.
• Ability to analyze movement and provide actionable feedback.
• Excellent attention to detail and classroom/lesson planning abilities.
• Commitment to SafeSport and youth welfare.

Responsibilities

• Lead regular youth practices with confidence.
• Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
• Maintain clear communication with coaching staff about schedules and progress.
• Ensure SafeSport training completion and adherence to coaches’ code of conduct.
• Engage youth athletes and foster a welcoming environment.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Summary:

As a Coach, you will foster a fun and welcoming environment for youth athletes of all ages by introducing fundamentals of climbing, building a strong base, continuing to develop skills, creating a solid curriculum, and ensuring a highly engaged CRG youth community experience.

Responsibilities:

• Regularly leading practices with confidence.
• Completion of SafeSport training for youth coaches.
• Strict adherence to our coaches’ code of conduct.
• Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
• Consistent communication with coaching staff regarding scheduling, practice, and athlete progress.
• Other duties as required.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with youth in an educational setting.
• Strong behavior management skills with youth of all ages.
• Strong in-person and remote communication skills.
• Minimum 2 years of climbing experience.
• Weekday afternoon availability and willingness to work weekends.
• Proficiency in top rope belaying.
• Careful attention to detail, ability to analyze movement and provide insightful feedback.
