Job summary

CarMax in Madison, WI seeks a Location General Manager in Training to develop into full store leadership. You will lead senior management, set store strategy, drive customer satisfaction, associate engagement, and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

You will monitor P&L, recruit and train staff, ensure EH&S compliance, and foster a culture of accountability. The program is designed to prepare you for multi-store responsibility and company growth.

Qualifications

• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills to interact with customers and associates across departments.
• Proficiency in data interpretation and record management for accurate reporting and decision-making.
• Demonstrated ability to make independent, critical business decisions and identify improvement opportunities.
• 5+ years of management experience, preferably in retail, with proven leadership capabilities.
• Completion of CarMax-provided training and intermediate PC skills.
• Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional travel for meetings or training.

• Responsible for the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) program for your department and/or location, including but not limited to self-inspections, hazardous waste disposal, workplace safety, and PPE.
