Locality Senior Social Worker - Children's Services

Location: Buckinghamshire County Wide

Join our dedicated team at Children's Services and help us ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community's most vulnerable members.

"Working here has been incredibly rewarding. The support and collaboration within the team are unmatched." - Team Member

As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in managing and supervising staff, delivering statutory social work services, and promoting the safety and wellbeing of children.

At Buckinghamshire Council, we have an opportunity for a high-calibre experienced Social Worker to join one of our newly created Locality Hubs.

In addition to the salary advertised, you will receive a market premium of £2,750 per annum.

About us

Locality teams deliver statutory and targeted early help services to children and young people in need of support, protection, and care.

Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are focused on the future and committed to serving residents better and providing stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.

Buckinghamshire is an ambitious, rapidly growing county with one of the strongest economies in the country. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, ranked as one of the top rural areas to live in the UK, yet it remains well connected—only an hour from London by train. The county boasts a rich history, heritage, and is the birthplace of the international Paralympic movement.

We are seeking motivated, ambitious, and inspiring individuals to join us on our journey. You will benefit from a range of perks designed to ensure your happiness both at work and at home.

About the role

In this dynamic and fulfilling role, you will manage and supervise a team of multidisciplinary staff, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery. You will have the opportunity to make a real impact on children and young people's lives by providing targeted social work services, assessing needs, and developing care plans.

Some of your daily tasks will include:

  • Promoting the safety and wellbeing of children
  • Supervising and supporting staff
  • Managing team duties and ensuring quality practice
  • Delivering statutory and early help services
  • Collaborating with various departments to achieve the best outcomes for children

For more detailed information, please refer to the job description.

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, either from home or an office when required. You will be expected to work from the office a few times a week, depending on team needs.

About you

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual committed to making a positive impact on children and young people. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for social work.

To succeed, you will need:

  • A recognized social work qualification
  • Active SWE registration
  • Significant experience working directly with vulnerable children
  • The ability to manage and supervise a team effectively
  • A commitment to promoting children's safety and wellbeing
