Local Truck Driver- PM Flatbed Shuttle Michigan City

Job Summary: Safely and efficiently operate inter-city trucks or combination units, transporting freight between terminals, relay stations, and home terminals to distant points and back. Load and unload freight, verify freight with bills of lading and manifests, and ensure compliance with company, customer, Federal, and State regulations to deliver freight undamaged and on time.

Responsibilities include:
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and required parts to ensure safety and proper functioning.
  • Check shipping papers and load conditions, secure freight, and verify documentation accuracy.
  • Operate vehicles in compliance with all safety regulations and laws.
  • Plan and adjust routes using GPS or other navigation tools.
  • Load and unload trucks, assist with equipment operation, and check for damages.
  • Handle freight charges, verify freight conditions, and secure loads for transport.
  • Maintain professional conduct and communication with colleagues, clients, and support centers.
  • Utilize navigation tools and perform basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintain documentation such as driver’s logs and adhere to safety and legal standards.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in intrastate and interstate driving.
  • Must pass pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol screening.
  • Clean driving record and valid Class A CDL license required.
Physical Demands:
  • Transporting, lifting, reaching, and other physical activities frequently required.
