Job summary

Walgreens is seeking an experienced Pharmacist to oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy department, drive workflow, and ensure high-quality patient care. You will manage prescription filling, regulatory compliance, and inventory while leading a team and maintaining excellent customer service.

You will collaborate with providers, payers, and health systems, implement QA processes, and protect department assets.

Qualifications

• BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D Degree from an accredited educational institute.
• Current pharmacist license in the states within the district (or willing to obtain in 1 year) per district guidelines.
• At least 1 year of pharmacy experience including prescription filling and verification, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems and insurance.
• Has completed specialized training regarding medication and disease state or has sufficient practical experience that is necessary to provide specialized services offered at clinic location (HIV, Organ Transplant, Oncology, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operation of the pharmacy department.
• Improve prescription numbers, pharmacy sales, profit, and image through accurate filling and courteous service to customers, including patients, prescribers, manufacturers, payers, and health systems.
• Report prescription errors and adhere to Quality Improvement Program and company policies.
• Comply with federal and state laws and company policies governing drugs and products; maintain records and reports.
• Recommend and implement asset protection controls to minimize profit loss.
• Maintain pharmacy department housekeeping, maintenance, and appearance for safety and regulatory compliance.
• Control cash handling, safe operations, and daily cash reports.
• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy systems and equipment.
• Manage third party pharmacy business opportunities and minimize payment rejections; resubmit claims timely.
• Manage and control Prescription Department inventory and purchasing from internal and external sources.
