Job summary

RTP Company, headquartered in Winona, Minnesota, is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. This role transports RTP materials and goods, with 80% shuttle/inner-city work and 20% regional over-the-road miles. 1st shift, M-F, 7am-3pm.

CDL required with DOT-acceptable driving record. Responsibilities include dispatch adherence, pre/post-trip inspections, trailer hookups, loading/unloading, forklift use, and daily DOT logging using ELDs.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid CDL driver’s license and a DOT-acceptable driving record.
• Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and handle loading/unloading tasks.

Responsibilities

• Primarily day cab/local truck duties
• Receive and follow dispatch orders
• Pre and Post trip vehicle inspections
• Hook up and drop trailers as directed by dispatch
• Operate forklift and perform loading/unloading
• Drive routes per DOT, state and RTP guidelines
• Communicate directions and statuses as directed
• Pickup/deliver dry van, pneumatic bulk, and trash compactor
• Unloading/loading of pneumatic trailers with PTO Blower
• Communicate with Customer, Maintenance, Safety, Dispatch on issues
• Fuel vehicle at approved locations
• Prepare trip records and DOT logs daily using ELDs
• Participate in company meetings and quality programs
• Other duties as assigned

Schedule

1st Shift, Monday- Friday- 7am-3 pm

Responsibilities

• Primarily day cab/local truck duties
• Receive and follow dispatch orders/instructions
• Pre and Post trip inspect vehicle at specified intervals
• Hook up and drop trailers as directed by dispatch
• Operate forklift and perform loading and unloading as needed/required
• Drive vehicle on specified routes observing Department of Transportation, State, Federal and RTP Company guidelines safe driving rules and regulations
• Communicate as directed, verbally or in writing
• Pick up and deliver dry van (skid) products, pneumatic bulk product and trash compactor
• Unloading/loading of pneumatic trailers with use of PTO Blower
• Communicate with Customer, Maintenance, Safety, and Dispatch on directions, breakdowns, accidents, product damage, emergencies, and other issues
• Fuel vehicle at approved locations
• Prepare all trip records and DOT logs daily- use ELD’s (electronic log device) as required.
• Participate in Company meetings and quality improvement activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. regularly
• Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
• Must have ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must have ability to make decisions within the scope of the job responsibilities

• Must be willing and able to work overtime as needed, up to every other weekend
• Must be willing and able to work in temperature extremes – hot and cold
• Must be able to pass a forklift test
• Must be able to pass a respirator fit test
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Education And Experience

• Must have a valid and unrestricted CDL driver’s license
• Must have a satisfactory (as rated by DOT) driving record
• Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred forklift experience
• Preferred previous driving experience

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Regularly required to sit for long periods of time as well as look at a computer screen.
• Occasional travel to other locations may be required.
