Job summary

Alter Trading is seeking an Equipment Operator for our Mankato yard. The role involves supervising and processing incoming and outgoing materials, handling cashiering duties at the cash window and scale, and maintaining accurate daily records in a safety-focused environment.

Ideal candidates are safety-minded, with a high school diploma or GED preferred, and the ability to multi-task while serving customers and vendors in person or over the phone.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Math aptitude is required for scale and ticket calculations.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to learn and grow in a metals operations environment.

Responsibilities

• Visually verify inbound/outbound vehicles on scale deck and enter weight.
• Identify metals and sort grades per specifications.
• Process customer payments and verify ticket accuracy.
• Sort checks and maintain copies for filing.
• File paperwork to support scheduled payments.
• Answer calls and direct questions to the right area.
• Develop reports and monitor performance metrics.
• Assist with training of new administrative staff.
• Assist with end-of-production cleanup duties.
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
