Local Rotational Security Officer - Maniilaq Clinics ($30/hr, On Call, 1 Week On/1 Week Off) - Noorv

The Security Officer provides security for NANA Management Services at an assigned unit or location wherein health, safety and security is the #1 priority. This assignment is at the Maniilaq Village Health Clinics and surrounding areas with corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers, etc.). This position will be a 1 week on, 1 week off rotational position, local to the NANA Village posted. This position may require on-call work outside of normal business hours.

This position requires a ten consecutive day training program that will be held in Kotzebue, AK. Lodging and transportation for this training, to and from Kotzebue, will be provided for new hires.

Responsibilities

  1. Personally monitors either visually, electronically, or audibly a variety of assigned areas, or grounds by working in a variety of assignments including but not limited to roving inside the facilities, roving in a vehicle, other locations deemed appropriate.
  2. Ensures own actions and those of others observe maximum level of safety and compliance.
  3. Will verbally de-escalate situations to ensure the safety of fellow employees, customers, and clients.
  4. Examines doors, windows, and other areas of the store to determine they are secure.
  5. Reports and records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, etc. in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  6. Assists in setting up for events, moving furniture and displays and preparing the clinic for various functions.
  7. Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators.
  8. Notifies on site individuals of visitors wishing to see them.
  9. Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety, active shooter protocol.
  10. May perform routine input or monitoring of safety and life support computer programs.
  11. May issue and record ID badges.
  12. May check heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, fire, etc., systems to make sure they are operational.
  13. Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met.
  14. Must be able to work on-call and outside of normal business hours if needed and scheduled in advance.
  15. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  16. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success may also be assigned.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. Must be able to pass State of Alaska background check, obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work.
  3. Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
  4. Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
  5. Must be able to be on your feet for 8-12 hours per shift.
  6. Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  7. Must be safety oriented as this is a safety sensitive position.
  8. Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to Loud.

Description of environment: This is a public setting at the NANA Village Maniilaq Health Clinics.

Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move up to 50lbs. Must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, use hands and arms, stoop, kneel and crouch.

Customer Service: Provides outstanding customer service; manages difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to customer needs; responds to requests for service and assistance; meets commitments in a timely manner.

Interpersonal Skills: Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to other ideas.

Oral Communication: Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; participates in meetings.

Written Communication: Writes incidents logs and other reports clearly; able to read and interpret written information.
