Hayward Lumber in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Driver (Non-CDL) for full-time, hourly work. The role involves delivering and unloading building materials, maintaining safety checks, and acting as a customer service liaison with a focus on accuracy and timely deliveries.

This position requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 100 lbs, and willingness to pass a drug test and background check. Knowledge of lumber and building materials is a plus.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience operating a Flatbed/Flatbed Dump Truck preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English.
• Ability to present information to customers and employees.
• Lift up to 60–100 lbs.
• Able to pull/push/grip and climb 2–3 ft steps into/out of cab.
• Must pass drug test and background check.
• Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Delivers and unloads materials to customers’ satisfaction, protecting product and property.
• Acts as customer service liaison and resolves issues as they arise.
• Adheres to delivery schedule and follows job directives.
• Verifies order details and maintains a log of deliveries.
• Checks items against invoices for accuracy.
• Performs pre/post trip inspection and secures materials on truck.
• Operates trucks safely and efficiently and assists others as needed.
