Job description

Join to apply for the Local News Photographer role at KOCO 5.

KOCO, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, OK, has an opening for a Local News Photographer. We are looking for a photographer with the ability to capture the essence of what's happening in the field and bring it vividly into viewers' homes. Responsibilities include shooting, editing, and executing creative live shots, as well as editing for newscasts. The ideal candidate should be up-to-date with modern media techniques and have an excellent eye for video. You will work positively with others, representing us with high journalistic standards and professionalism, reporting to the Chief Photographer.

Responsibilities
  • Shooting and editing VOs, VO-SOTs, and packages for broadcast and online
  • Collaborating with the Assignment Desk and Reporters to cover stories
  • Shooting on professional camera equipment
  • Editing with Adobe Premiere and using ENG, SNG, and wireless data feeds
  • Gathering video and stills for digital platforms
  • Ensuring content quality in coordination with reporters and producers
  • Working with producers to achieve creative visions with vivid video and natural sound
  • Managing incoming video from field crews
  • Using catalog systems to store and retrieve video
  • Producing and publishing content online
  • Maintaining organization and gear/equipment care
Requirements
  • Training in video photojournalism
  • Experience in a newsroom setting
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
  • Experience with ENG trucks
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Proficiency with digital editing tools, including Adobe Premiere, Precis, and CNN platforms
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethics
  • Ability to handle stress and time pressures of live news production
  • Military experience considered
  • In-person attendance required
