Overview and Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Patient Service Technician to join our team. In this position, you are responsible for delivery and set-up of equipment at the delivery address. You will educate the patient and/or caregiver on the safe use and maintenance of the delivered item.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Adheres to company policies and procedures regarding personnel protective safety equipment and services.
  2. Assists in resolving customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
  3. Assists with the implementation of quality improvement programs to meet company and JCAHO standards.
  4. Assumes on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
  5. Communicates to supervisor any vehicle problems or conditions which would compromise the vehicle's safe operations.
  6. Completes shipping papers when transporting hazardous materials in accordance with Rotech policy and procedures.
  7. Completes written patient visit reports following setup and follow-up visits per company policy.
  8. Delivers and educates patients on the safe use and maintenance of respiratory and HME equipment in the home or office setting.
  9. Develops and maintains working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company and all applicable governmental regulations.
  10. Develops basic reimbursement knowledge and completely documents all information.
  11. Develops technical knowledge, as appropriate, of the HME or respiratory products.
  12. Maintains assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe working condition.
  13. Maintains delivery activity database.
  14. Maintains home oxygen systems in patients' homes per company policy.
  15. Manages territory to reach service goals and delivers equipment and oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards and applicable federal, state, and local governmental regulations.
  16. Prepares and maintains written company records to include invoices, work orders, manifests, and logs.
  17. Processes all orders and required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  18. Reports equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.
Travel

Travel via company vehicle is required to patient's homes for set-ups and recurring delivery.

Qualifications

Employment is contingent on:

  1. Background investigation (company-wide).
  2. Drug screen (when applicable for the position).
  3. Valid driver's license in state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable for the position).
Required Education and/or Experience
  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
  1. Experience with medical equipment, preferred.
  2. One year of related work experience, preferred.
  3. Medical terminology, preferred.
Skills and Competencies
  1. Accurately perform simple mathematical calculations.
  2. Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written.
  3. Interpret a variety of communications (verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, and visual).
  4. Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and caution when handling sensitive information.
  5. Multi-task along with attention to detail.
  6. Self-motivation, organized, time-management, and deductive problem-solving skills.
  7. Work independently and as part of a team.
Machines, Equipment and Technical Abilities
  1. Email transmission and communication.
  2. Internet navigation and research.
  3. Microsoft applications; Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  4. Office equipment; fax machine, copier, printer, phone, and computer and/or tablet.
  5. Mechanically inclined for the repair and troubleshooting of equipment.
  6. Successfully demonstrates loading, unloading, and proper tie-down procedures as per company policy of transported cargo.
  7. Understands use of all applicable home respiratory equipment and supplies.
Physical Demands
  1. Lift and carry office equipment at times.
  2. Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking, and listening.
  3. Requires close vision to small print on computer and/or tablet and paperwork.
  4. Requires lifting (minimum of 65 pounds) and transporting of patient equipment.
  5. Requires contact with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens.
  6. Requires driving a company vehicle for the majority of the workday.
  7. Required to comply with Rotech Respiratory Protection & N95 Mask Fit Testing Policy Medical Evaluation and Fit Testing Compliance in a timely manner.
  8. Annual Recertification.
  9. Keep face clean-shaven to ensure N95 Mask face-seal protection per OSHA guidelines.
