Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Patient Service Technician to join our team. In this position, you are responsible for delivery and set-up of equipment at the delivery address, educating the patient and/or caregiver on the safe use and maintenance of the delivered item.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety equipment and services.
- Assist in resolving customer equipment problems under emergency conditions.
- Implement quality improvement programs to meet company and JCAHO standards.
- Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours per company policy.
- Report vehicle problems or conditions affecting safe operation.
- Complete shipping papers for hazardous materials transport according to company policy.
- Complete written patient visit reports after setup and follow-up visits.
- Deliver and educate patients on the safe use and maintenance of respiratory and HME equipment in the home or office setting.
- Maintain knowledge of current HME products, services, and applicable regulations.
- Develop basic reimbursement knowledge and document all information thoroughly.
- Develop technical knowledge of HME or respiratory products as appropriate.
- Maintain assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe condition.
- Maintain delivery activity database.
- Manage home oxygen systems in patients' homes per company policy.
- Manage territory to reach service goals, delivering equipment and oxygen according to industry standards and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain records including invoices, work orders, manifests, and logs.
- Process all orders and paperwork accurately and timely.
- Report equipment hazards or incidents as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Travel
- Travel via company vehicle to patient's homes for set-ups and recurring deliveries.
Qualifications
Employment contingent on:
- Background investigation
- Drug screening (if applicable)
- Valid driver's license with a clean record (if applicable)
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with medical equipment preferred.
- One year of related work experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Skills and Competencies
- Accurate mathematical calculation skills.
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Ability to interpret various communication forms.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Multi-tasking, attention to detail, self-motivation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
Machines, Equipment, and Technical Abilities
- Email, internet, and Microsoft Office applications proficiency.
- Office equipment operation.
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment repair and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of all applicable home respiratory equipment and supplies.
Physical Demands
Per OSHA guidelines:
- Lift and carry office equipment.
- Sit, walk, stand, talk, and listen.
- Close vision for small print and paperwork.
- Lift at least 65 pounds and transport patient equipment.
- Potential exposure to contagious pathogens.
- Drive a company vehicle most of the workday.
- Compliance with respiratory protection policies, including face-shaving for mask seal.
