Job summary
County of Culpeper seeks an Assistant County Attorney to support the County Attorney by providing complex legal counsel to the Board of Supervisors, the County Administrator, departments, and committees.
The role includes trial practice, transactional work, drafting ordinances and contracts, and legal research on local government topics including FOIA responses, land use, and taxation. A Virginia JD and Virginia Bar licensure in good standing are required.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in Virginia and in good standing.
Responsibilities
- Assist the County Attorney in providing complex legal counsel to the Board of Supervisors and County offices.
- Handle diverse legal tasks including trial practice, transactional work, and legal research.
- Draft ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds, leases, and other real estate documents.
- Respond to Virginia FOIA requests and manage related administrative matters.
