Job summary

Sands Anderson PC in Durham, NC, is seeking an experienced Local Government attorney to help us expand and serve in our growing Durham office.

Take a lead role advising local governments on governance, contracts, land use, and public meetings while drafting ordinances and opinions. A JD and NC Bar, plus 5+ years in Local Government Law, are required; a hybrid schedule is offered with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active member of the North Carolina State Bar.
• Five+ years in Local Government Law in North Carolina.
• Strong understanding of municipal operations, FOIA, zoning, procurement, governance, and public meetings.

Responsibilities

• Advise local governments on governance, contracts, land use and public meetings.
• Draft and review ordinances, resolutions and legal opinions.
• Represent localities in administrative and legal proceedings.
• Stay current on legal developments affecting municipal clients.
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff across offices for integrated services.
