Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Donation Pickup & Delivery Driver for local routes. The role offers a pay of $18.00 per hour, full-time hours, and a flexible schedule with Mondays through Saturdays.

You will load, unload, and transport donations, maintaining professional donor relations and adhering to DOT/OSHA rules. Responsibilities include safely operating the truck, performing vehicle inspections, and supporting operations with software/tools and PPE usage.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent is required.
• At least two years licensed driving experience.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT screen, drug test, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently.
• Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries.
• Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials.
• Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections of vehicles.
• Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations.
• Train and Certify New Production Assistants.
• Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army.
• Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully.
• Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors.
• Report any pickup problems to dispatcher.
• Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code.
• Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively.
• Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring.
• Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed.
• Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard.
• Report any safety or security concerns immediately.
