A leading healthcare provider is seeking a part-time RN for a correctional facility in Bridgeton, NJ. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to inmate-patients, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring adherence to security protocols. The ideal candidate will have a valid RN license in New Jersey, CPR certification, and strong assessment skills. This position requires physical capability to assist patients and maintain a safe healthcare environment.
Part-time evenings, EOW.
The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus.
Works with a variety of healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.
Frequently functions guided by nursing protocols.
Functions as a team leader as assigned.
Demonstrates competency in assessment and identification of the physical health of adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+), across all population groups, and assesses their personal strengths.
Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives, then implements prescribed interventions and solutions for the identified problems.
Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of inmate-patients, including adults and geriatrics, within the correctional system framework.
Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for healthcare delivery to inmate-patients.
Maintains current professional skills and pursues ongoing professional growth to enhance correctional nursing practice and organizational image.
Adheres to personnel policies to support the operation of the healthcare unit.
Maintains required annual licensure and credentials, and is responsible for continuing education and professional development, contributing to co-worker growth.
Capable of functioning in a stressful environment and relates well to patients, security staff, and healthcare team members.
May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.
Entry and movement within the facility are controlled by correctional officers.
Minimum Education and Experience: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Certifications/Licenses: Valid RN license in New Jersey; CPR certification required; Valid driver's license required.
Required Skills and Abilities: Ability to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes; physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds; assist in lifting and rotating patients up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications: At least one year of experience in a correctional setting is preferred.
Must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes, lift and carry up to 45 pounds, and assist with patient mobility.
Must possess own vehicle or alternative transportation means and adhere to security and client requirements.
Employees must comply with all security regulations and procedures.
