Title: Technical Specialist – Blood Bank – Hospital Lab

Start time is flexible Monday–Friday; no holidays or weekends

Summary

Responsible for overseeing the Transfusion Medicine processes within the hospital labs. Develop training and competency programs for Transfusion Medicine hospital–based labs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive and lead Transfusion Medicine projects
• Work with Quality Assurance team to utilize quality tools and insure readiness for regulatory inspections
• Oversee the FDA Reportables and submissions
• Drive Standardization across the system in Transfusion Medicine
• Oversee collaborative team incorporating thought leaders from applicable hospitals
• Develop transfusion medicine productivity standards, quality measures, and best practices
• Evaluate instrumentation, reagent systems to drive standardization
• Work with BPT Leader to provide ROI, service requirements and implementation tools for recommended instrumentation
• Create and execute standard Blood Bank SOPs, tools and metrics
• Serve on hospital subcommittees as needed

Job Qualifications

• Color vision required for accuracy in work.
• Experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, dealing with toxic/hazardous chemicals and unpleasant odors.
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology required.
• ASCP certification required.
• Three to six (3-6) years of pertinent, full-time laboratory experience in a core laboratory; advanced education will be counted toward years of experience.
