Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

A nursing assistant is responsible for providing routine nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator, to ensure the highest quality of resident care at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed as a certified nursing assistant.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a certified nursing assistant or clinical experience during enrollment in a nursing assistant certification program.
  • Sincere desire to serve the ill, aged, and infirm.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public.
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with others.
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and the ability to handle residents at their current maturity level.
  • Good general health and emotional stability.
  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile individuals within the facility.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform all duties as assigned, following facility policies, nursing care procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Make resident rounds at the beginning of each shift and every two hours to administer care.
  • Verify resident identification before providing care or serving food to ensure correct care.
  • Report missing ID bands immediately to the admission coordinator.
  • Make beds, clean bedside and overbed tables.
  • Ensure water pitchers are cleaned, filled with fresh water, and within residents' reach.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or directed by supervisors.
