State Steel Supply in Des Moines, Iowa is looking for a Driver responsible for preparing and securing delivery loads, inspecting vehicles, and adhering to DOT regulations. Successful applicants will need a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
Drivers are expected to perform various tasks under varying conditions, including extreme weather and lifting heavy objects. Experience in driving a tractor-trailer is preferred along with the ability to handle Hazmat materials if necessary.
The purpose of the Driver is to prepare and secure delivery loads, inspect the vehicle via Daily Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR), follow a planned route to the destination, maintain vehicle cleanliness, observe safety procedures regarding DOT regulations, Hazmat, and power equipment tools, and complete all other duties assigned.
Requires working weekday mornings and afternoons. Some early mornings, weekends and evenings may be required. State Steel expects all drivers to fully comply with any and all DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations regarding Hours of Service (https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/hours-service/summary-hours-service-regulations).

Proper Lifting Techniques: The ability to properly lift heavy objects or equipment. This includes the knowledge of correct bending and lifting techniques as needed to properly position and use one's hands, feet, legs, arms, and back to lift objects or equipment, and to push, pull, and carry heavy objects.
Hand-Eye Coordination: The ability to coordinate one's eyes with one's fingers, wrists, or arms to move, carry, or manipulate objects or to perform other job-related tasks.
Work Conditions: The ability to perform job activities, with appropriate intermittent relief where applicable, under difficult work conditions such as in extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, at heights, while exposed to constant/intermittent sounds.
Climbing: The ability to climb, work, and carry items up and down ladders.
Manual Dexterity: The ability to make quick, accurate, skillful, coordinated movements of one hand, one hand in coordination with its arm, or two hands to grasp.
