Job summary

R.P. Lumber is seeking a CDL Driver for our Taylorville, IL location. This on-site, full-time role focuses on local deliveries of lumber and building materials, loading/unloading, and yard support.

Reports to the General Manager and emphasizes safe operation of trucks and equipment. You will drive, unload using boom/crane or by hand, and maintain accurate paperwork. Candidates must have a Class A/B CDL, DOT medical cert, and a reliable driving record, with good customer service and physical

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL (air-brake and manual-transmission endorsements preferred).
• Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Acceptable commercial driving record for the prior 60 months.
• At least 21 years of age.
• HS diploma or GED, or 6–12 months related experience, or equivalent mix.
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers, vendors, managers, and teammates.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as business needs require.
• Physically able to lift 50–100 pounds and perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver building materials to customer jobsites using efficient, legal routes.
• Meet delivery schedules and represent the company with professional service.
• Unload or help unload product by boom/crane, Moffett (piggyback), or by hand.
• Watch jobsite conditions and follow safety rules at every stop.
• Secure return loads before leaving the jobsite.
• Complete delivery, return, transfer, and Delivery Waiver paperwork to keep inventory accurate.
• Help load and secure materials on trucks.
• Work with yard staff to verify materials and quantities before a truck leaves.
• Stock, load, and organize lumber in yard/warehouse.
• Assist customers in yard with loading and product questions.
