Job description

Local CDL A or CDL B Driver

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duty of the Driver, also called a Logistics Specialist II (with or without a Crane Operator), is to deliver building materials to customers or job sites. Drivers operate within a 200-mile radius of their home branch, with deliveries starting and ending at the branch (no overnight stays).

  • Safely operate a commercial vehicle in compliance with all DOT regulations
  • Lead job site safety by operating equipment according to local, state, and federal laws
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections
  • Validate and confirm inventory loaded, compare purchase orders, sign delivery tickets, and verify addresses
  • Conduct job site inspections, document existing damages, and note hazards like power lines or sprinkler systems
  • Capture photos of all delivered building products as per company policy
Requirements
  • Valid Class A or Class B CDL
  • Ability to load and unload building products weighing up to 100 lbs., with forklift or Moffett experience a plus
  • Safe driving record with no recent hit & runs, DWI, or DUI convictions; severe violations or accidents in the past year will be reviewed
  • Prior commercial driving experience and knowledge of DOT & OSHA safety regulations are a plus
  • Experience in distribution is a plus
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • Minimum age of 18; if crossing state lines or transporting hazardous materials, minimum age is 21
  • Must pass drug test, possess current DOT medical certificate, and have no positive drug tests in the past 12 months
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. and pass an E-Verify check
