Job summary

TPG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a skilled bartender to deliver exceptional beverage service at our property in Rhode Island. You will mix cocktails, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic drinks, while maintaining menu knowledge and delivering a personalized guest experience.

The role emphasizes accurate cash handling, adherence to health and safety regulations, and collaborating with servers and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction. Flexible hours are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a bartender or in hospitality preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mixology, cocktails, and beverage presentation.

Responsibilities

• Beverage Preparation: mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages per recipes and standards.
• Menu Knowledge: know drink ingredients, flavor profiles, and presentation; recommend options.
• Customer Interaction: take orders, offer suggestions, provide personalized experience.
• Presentation: ensure drinks are visually appealing with proper garnishes and glassware.
• Bar Setup and Maintenance: keep bar stocked, clean, and organized during shift.
• Cash Handling: process payments, manage tabs, handle cash/credit transactions.
• Entertainment and Engagement: create lively atmosphere and engage guests at the bar.
• Inventory Management: monitor beverage inventory; restock; report shortages.
• Compliance: verify age, refuse service to underage or intoxicated individuals.
• Collaboration: coordinate with servers, kitchen staff, and management.

Job description

What you’ll be doing

• Beverage Preparation: Skillfully mix and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and specialty drinks, while adhering to established recipes and standards.
• Menu Knowledge: Possess an in-depth knowledge of the drink menu, including ingredients, flavor profiles, and presentation. Make recommendations to customers based on their preferences.
• Customer Interaction: Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner. Take drink orders, offer suggestions, and provide a personalized experience.
• Presentation: Ensure drinks are visually appealing and well-presented, using garnishes and glassware appropriately to enhance the overall drink experience.
• Bar Setup and Maintenance: Prepare the bar area for service, ensuring that all necessary tools, ingredients, and supplies are available. Keep the bar area clean and organized throughout the shift.
• Cash Handling: Process payment transactions accurately, manage tabs, and handle cash and credit card transactions. Maintain an organized cash register and provide accurate change.
• Entertainment and Engagement: Provide entertainment and engage with customers by offering recommendations and creating a lively atmosphere. Tend to guests at the bar, making them feel welcomed and valued.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and manage beverage inventory, restocking supplies as needed and reporting any shortages to management. Assist with inventory counts and ordering.
• Compliance: Adhere to all relevant laws and regulations regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol. Verify customer age and refuse service to underage or intoxicated individuals.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members, including servers, kitchen staff, and management, to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

Physical work is a primary part of many of our hotel and resort jobs. Physical requirements include extended standing and walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting to 50 lbs. Some work is performed in an interior hotel environment with equipment and machines.
