Job description

At Lendbuzz, we believe financial opportunity should be more personalized and fair. We develop innovative technologies that provide underserved and overlooked borrowers with better access to credit. From our employees to our dealers, partners, and borrowers, we’ve built a company and a culture around a resolute belief in the promise and power of diversity. We value independent and critical thinking.

This position will report to a leader within the Underwriting Team and will work cross‑functionally with the sales, operations, and finance teams. The Credit Loan Officer is responsible for evaluating and assessing loan applications to determine creditworthiness and risk. This role requires a strong understanding of financial analysis, credit policies, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound judgments based on comprehensive data evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate loan applications, including credit reports, income documentation, and supporting materials, to assess risk and overall creditworthiness.
  • Perform comprehensive risk analysis by evaluating applicants’ financial profiles, including calculating and analyzing payment‑to‑income (PTI) and loan‑to‑value (LTV) ratios.
  • Make sound credit recommendations by approving, countering, or declining loan applications in accordance with company policies and underwriting guidelines, and clearly document the rationale for all decisions.
  • Ensure regulatory and policy compliance by adhering to all applicable federal, state, and internal lending requirements throughout the review process.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with sales teams, operations, and leadership to resolve application issues, obtain additional documentation, and drive loans to resolution efficiently.
  • Monitor market and economic trends that may impact lending decisions, portfolio risk, and borrower performance.
  • Commit to continuous improvement by participating in ongoing training and staying current on industry best practices, products, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in financial services with a focus on credit analysis, underwriting, or risk management.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain credit decisions.
  • High attention to detail and ability to perform in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Working knowledge of credit policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with senior leaders and cross‑functional partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Compensation and Schedule
  • This position is non‑exempt and the hourly rate is approximately $28.84 per hour based on a 40‑hour work week, which equates to $60,000 per year.
  • There are two potential schedules available for this role: 10 am – 7 pm EST and 2 pm – 11 pm EST, with a one‑hour lunch.
  • Days off are Sunday and one day during the week with a holiday rotation and an occasional Sunday.
