Responsibilities
- Assist clients in understanding mortgage products and loan options by providing clear, detailed explanations aligned with Fair Housing regulations and industry standards.
- Evaluate borrower financial information through credit analysis, income verification, and debt-to-income ratio assessments using Mortgage Servicing and Loan Origination Systems (LOS).
- Conduct thorough underwriting reviews to determine loan eligibility, ensuring compliance with FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines and other regulatory requirements such as TILA (Truth in Lending Act).
- Negotiate terms with clients and third-party partners to secure favorable loan conditions while adhering to all banking regulatory compliance standards.
- Process loan applications efficiently by utilizing mortgage software and accounting software, maintaining accurate records of all client interactions and documentation.
- Collaborate with underwriters, processors, and other team members to facilitate smooth loan processing from application to closing.
- Build strong client relationships through effective communication, understanding their financial goals, and providing tailored mortgage solutions that meet their needs.
Skills
- 1 year proven experience as a Loan Officer or in retail lending within the financial services industry.
- Strong negotiation skills combined with excellent customer service abilities to foster trust and loyalty.
- Proficiency in Mortgage Loan Origination Systems (LOS), Quicken or similar financial software, and basic math skills for credit analysis and risk assessment.
- In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending regulations including FNMA standards, TILA, Fair Housing laws, and banking compliance protocols.
- Ability to analyze credit reports, perform underwriting tasks, and evaluate commercial or residential lending scenarios with attention to detail.
- Effective relationship-building skills in financial sales environments; capable of managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
- Familiarity with mortgage servicing processes, loan processing steps, contracts management, and industry-specific accounting practices.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction, contract explanation, and collaboration with internal teams.
