Job description

Job Type: Full‑time

There are three levels within the Loan Credit Analyst job family with progressive responsibilities. We are looking for a Level 2 or Level 3 to fill this position.

Responsibilities
Level 2
  • Contact borrowers and track receipt of annual financial information as required by loan documents; analyze financial statements of all levels to develop an initial assessment of strengths and weaknesses related to a borrower's historical and current operating performance.
  • Complete and review existing bank commercial loans and perform risk‑rating analysis on portions of the portfolio; review loan documentation for completeness and accuracy, indicate missing documentation, and prepare in‑depth written analyses for relationships of all sizes and complexities.
  • Research industry‑specific information from external sources, including borrower conversations, industry publications, area libraries, references from other banks and credit agencies, and internet research; assist loan officers with questions.
  • Present loan reviews to committees, including risk‑rating recommendations and the analysis behind the rating; articulate reasoning and defend recommendation if needed.
  • Create and maintain credit files; perform credit analysis, analyze customer financial information, and generate reports based on the commercial loan portfolio.
  • Conduct credit loan review due diligence, quantitative analysis; perform risk ratings on credits or credit analysis; monitor financial statements; request financials and letters of credit; conduct compliance testing of loan requirements.
  • Prepare credit‑risk reviews for annual audit.
  • Attend training and work with experienced credit analysts to develop skill set and technique and build banking knowledge.
  • Keep up to date and comply with all bank policies, procedures, and applicable banking laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and related anti‑money‑laundering statutes and federal consumer‑protection regulations.
  • Analyze financial statements in conjunction with underwriting commercial loan requests; prepare, analyze, and review in‑depth written analysis for relationships; prepare complete credit presentation incorporating all relevant borrower and related financial information for CRE and C&I loan requests.
  • Work with Loan Officer/Business Banker to assemble financial information to develop an initial assessment of borrower strengths and weaknesses; review loan structure of new requests to identify risks or policy exceptions; make recommendations on loan structure or reporting requirements where appropriate.
  • Possess expert knowledge of industry and bank credit and underwriting procedures and practices.
  • Monitor service providers and vendors; structure relationships with service providers strategically; set expectations; develop performance metrics; measure vendor performance; provide feedback and hold accountable.
Level 3
  • Lead special projects as necessary and as assigned.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally, engage business partners and seek other expertise as needed.
  • Appropriately elevate matters to management and senior leadership.
  • Serve as a mentor to credit analysts, portfolio managers, and less experienced loan officers.
  • Provide advice, present learning opportunities, support relationship building, and assist with training as needed.
Qualifications
Level 2
  • 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis or credit analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software.
  • Experience with EasyLender, Cleartouch, OnBase, various government and investor software/web portals preferred; CreditQuest preferred.
  • Experience in financial services or banking preferred.
Level 3
  • 7–10 years of experience in financial analysis or credit analysis.
  • Experience leading teams, supervising, or mentoring.
Physical Environment

The employee is regularly required to lift, walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, push/pull, use hands, and see, hear, and speak. The employee may sometimes lift or move up to 25 lb. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate. This position is performed in an office setting, five days a week, with typical work hours 8:30 AM–5:15 PM.
