Job summary

State Bank of Southern Utah is seeking a Loan Assistant to provide administrative and operational support throughout the lending process. You will work closely with loan officers, processors, and customers to ensure accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service.

You will review files, prepare documentation, coordinate closings, and maintain accurate records. This on-site role in Fillmore offers a team-focused environment with opportunities to grow in community banking.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to pass a credit and background check.
  • 1+ year of experience in lending, banking, mortgage, escrow, title, or related financial services preferred.
  • Experience with loan documentation and closing processes preferred.
  • Understanding of lending regulations and banking policies.
  • Basic knowledge of credit analysis and financial statements.
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support loan officers and loan processors with loan applications, renewals, and documentation.
  • Review borrower files and verify required information and supporting documents.
  • Communicate with customers regarding loan status, documentation needs, and general inquiries.
  • Coordinate loan signings and closings while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Order and track appraisals, environmental reports, title work, flood certifications, insurance documentation, and other required reports.
  • Review and manage documentation including credit reports, financial statements, UCC filings, vehicle titles, and collateral records.
  • Prepare loans for boarding and processing.
  • Process loan payments, advances, fees, and related transactions.
  • Maintain loan and collateral files, scan and archive documents, and ensure records remain accurate and complete.
  • Prepare correspondence for customers and outside agencies.
  • Perform loan maintenance activities within bank systems.
  • Stay current on lending regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with general branch support, including answering phones, greeting customers, and maintaining files.

What You’ll Do

As a Loan Assistant, you'll provide administrative and operational support throughout the lending process while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional customer service.
