Job summary

HomeBank Texas is seeking a Lending Assistant to support the lending team with administrative, operational, and customer service tasks throughout the loan lifecycle. The role ensures loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements while helping loan officers deliver a smooth customer experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of banking experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of loan documentation, loan processing, and banking regulations is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist loan officers with processing consumer, commercial, and real estate loan applications from origination through closing.
  • Collect, review, and verify client financial documentation (income statements, tax returns, credit reports).
  • Prepare and maintain loan files, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with banking regulations.
  • Generate and process loan documentation, disclosures, and closing packages.
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers, providing updates and gathering required information.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, title companies, appraisers, and other third parties to facilitate loan processing.
  • Monitor loan pipelines, tickler systems, and reporting to ensure timely progression and funding of loans.
  • Input and maintain accurate loan data in the bank’s systems and prepare reports as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies and applicable federal and state lending regulations.
  • Provide general administrative support to the lending department and assist with special projects as needed.

Summary

Minimum Physical Ability

  • Ability to lift and carry files or office materials (up to 15-25 pounds occasionally).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via electronic communication.
