Job summary

Zachry Underground & Utility Services, a division of Zachry Construction Corporation, is seeking a Loader Operator to safely operate a large wheeled loader in excavation support for water and sewer main projects. Pay is hourly and depends on experience.

You will load, unload, and transport materials, recognize hazards, and communicate with crew while adhering to all safety rules. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of loader experience on water/sewer construction projects.
• Ability to load bedding material into open-cut trenches.
• Reliability and safe operation on active job sites.

Responsibilities

• Operate loader equipment safely under supervisor direction.

Position Summary

The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a large, wheeled loader in support of excavation and shoring of trenches for the construction of pipe systems for water and sewer mains. The hourly pay rate is dependent on experience.

What You’ll Do

• Operate loader equipment safely under the direction of the supervisor
• Assist in loading, unloading, and transporting materials using loader bucket or forks
• Transport and dump bedding and backfill material into trenches
• Recognize hazardous conditions and immediately report them to the supervisor
• Load trucks safely and efficiently
• Communicate clearly with other crew members using verbal and non-verbal hand signals while operating equipment
• Work days, nights, and weekends as required
• Follow all required safety rules, policies, and guidelines
• Perform other labor-related duties as assigned by the supervisor

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 3 years of loader experience on water and sewer construction projects, including placing bedding material into open-cut trenches
• Experience moving various materials within utility-type projects with open trenches and other job site hazards
• Previous experience backfilling pipe
• Reliable transportation
• Physical ability to perform assigned labor-related tasks (climbing ladders, entering/exiting ditches)
• Physical ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
• General operating skills and attention to safety and efficiency
• Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
