ROLE OVERVIEW
This is a seasonal position. You can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish, or other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year‑round.
This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the loader to feed conveyors, hoppers, or load trucks.
The typical schedule is eleven days on 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM followed by three days off.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform daily equipment, walk‑around, and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions, and keep equipment properly maintained.
- Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) on the loader. Maintain three points of contact at all times while performing maintenance activities.
- Safely and properly operate the loader, ensuring bucket/attachments are lowered to the ground when leaving the equipment.
- Load trucks with driver in sight to communicate and ensure safe loading procedures.
- Load trucks up to the legal hauling weight limit.
- Identify appropriate material to produce quality aggregate material per job specifications. Communicate with other personnel and make required adjustments to material blends.
- Maintain clean, contaminant‑free aggregate piles and pit floors; keep haul roads smooth and level.
- Assist with keeping the concrete plant fed for maximum production.
- Check for spillage on the plant floor and clean up daily.
- Check for worn‑out flashing on the plant that could lead to spillage.
- Maintain leftover concrete that is dumped out at the plant when needed.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people under high‑stress situations. Be self‑motivated, a team‑player with good interpersonal skills, and maintain positive customer relations.
- Troubleshoot and problem‑solve situations (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co‑workers and managers/supervisors.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DNR, lockout/tagout, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- General education, grammar, and arithmetic; GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card, and an acceptable driving record.
- Experience in equipment operation and maintenance.
