Job summary

APAC-AL, Inc., a CRH company, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Atmore, Alabama. This full-time role requires skilled operation of construction equipment, with an emphasis on loaders, safe practices, and efficiency on projects across the region.

You'll work with our asphalt and construction teams, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safe slopes, proper barricading, and accurate record-keeping. Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and to walk, crouch, and kneel is required.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two years of loader experience on road construction, quarry, or asphalt plant.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of safety standards and trenching/shoring basics.
• Ability to read measurements and perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
• Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
• Keep time and material records.
• Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications.
• Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
• Travel from interstate highway to rural dirt roads from various locations.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, walk, stoop, squat, sit, kneel.
• Knowledge of equipment and their uses
• Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
• Knowledge of basic measurements and how to read a tape measure
