Description

The Freight Handler is responsible for receiving inbound freight, loading and unloading trucks, selecting and moving product boxes between storage areas and loading areas in the warehouse according to customer orders, and preparing items for shipment. Duties include assembling, addressing, and shipping goods and materials; receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise and materials; and arranging transportation for products.

Responsibilities

1. Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material needs.
2. Operate forklifts safely to move product boxes from storage to loading areas.
3. Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas using appropriate equipment.
4. Prepare products for shipment according to company policies and regulations.
5. Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
6. Attach identifying tags or markings to pallets and boxes.
7. Stack cargo in designated locations using pallets.
8. Record units handled or moved using work tickets or sheets.
9. Install protective devices to prevent shifting or damage during transportation.
10. Position boxes and pallets for loading.
11. Maintain storage areas to ensure inventory protection.
12. Clean equipment and work areas regularly.
13. Ensure knowledge of equipment and safety procedures to promote a secure environment.
14. Lift and move products safely and efficiently to meet delivery schedules.
15. Exert physical effort to lift or carry objects as needed.
16. Follow oral or written instructions accurately.
17. Communicate effectively in English.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications
