An established industry player is seeking a dedicated individual with strong mechanical and operator skills to support the daily operations of a refinery. PURPOSE:
This position requires a person with strong mechanical and operator skills. This role supports the day-to-day operation of the site by providing general labor, relief labor, and participating in training for more senior positions.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Identify equipment, determine process flow, operate valves, start and shut down equipment to ensure proper operation of the assigned work area.
• Operate mobile and other equipment safely.
• Communicate effectively with other operators and supervision to ensure proper equipment operation, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Participate in training and be a member of the Fire Brigade.
• Work at heights up to approximately 150 feet daily.
• Support the monthly close process for the refinery, including transactional processes impacting the closing.
• Follow all safety rules and participate in scheduled safety activities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Knowledge of safety procedures such as Lockout/Tag Out, confined space, MSDS, hot work.
• Willingness and ability to complete Basic Operator Training (BOT) with satisfactory test scores and pass practical exams promptly.
• Ability to work days, nights, weekends as required.
• Willingness to respond to call-outs.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• 2+ years of experience or an Associate’s/Technical Degree in Process Technology (P-Tech) related to refinery or chemical processes.
• Experience as an operator at a petrochemical plant.
• Knowledge of basic refining principles such as distillation, exchangers, motors, pumps, valves, piping.
