O'Neal Steel has an opening for a (3rd Shift Su-Th 10p-6a) Loader at our Waterloo, IA facility.

The Loader will load and unload material within a warehouse. Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, overhead cranes, conveyors, spotter trucks, trailers, or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Has knowledge of commonly used practices and procedures. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including, but not limited to, forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking skills for planning and problem-solving.
  • Ability to safely load multi-stop loads for customer delivery.
  • Strong understanding of load balancing to meet DOT weight regulations for legal and over-dimensional loads.
  • Verify the accuracy of material, quantity, packaging, and other special instructions for each order being shipped.
  • Perform loading duties 70% of the time or more.
  • Ability to use various hand tools including grinder, bander, drill, hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, etc.
  • Provide high-quality work to all internal and external customers.
  • Learn and retain a large range of product knowledge, standard handling, and rigging procedures across all products.
  • Read a tape measure accurately.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Follow all established safety procedures.
  • Candidates must pass a criminal background check and drug test (excluding THC) upon employment offer.
