Job summary

American Woodmark Corp. in Cumberland, MD is hiring a Loader to place cabinets and parts into trailers using hand dollies and pallet jacks, ensuring loads are correct and secure for transport, and that safety protocols are followed.

You will follow Handling, Staging, and Loading requirements, package items on the line, use a scanning system to verify components, keep a safe, clean work environment, and communicate effectively with team members.

Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Read a standard tape measure and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Load cabinets into trailers following HSL requirements.
• Package cabinets on the line and secure boxes for loading.
• Use scanning system to verify correct components.
• Read production labels and scan cabinets and parts.
• Move skids with a pallet jack as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment.

Job description

A Loader places cabinets and parts into a trailer using hand dollies and pallet jacks; ensuring that the load is correct and secure for transport.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Load cabinets into trailers following the Handling, Staging, and Loading requirements
• Packaging cabinets while moving down the assembly line and using strapping machine to secure box for loading
• Use scanning system to ensure correct components are assembled
• Accurately interpret production labels and scan cabinets and parts
• Occasionally use a pallet jack to move skids of parts for loading
• Maintain a safe work environment, including housekeeping
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to follow all handling, staging, and loading (HSL) requirements
• Ability to identify cabinet types, wood species, finishes, and color variances
• Ability to use basic math concepts and read a standard tape measure

Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.

Required Physical Ability:

• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
• Frequent bending, crouching, pulling, and pushing
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 30lb, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lb

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Working in an indoor environment with excessive hot, humid, and cold temperatures
• Protective safety gear will be required including safety glasses and gloves
• The noise level is usually moderate to high
• Occasional overtime and weekend work as required
