Job description

Overview

The Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner at construction job sites. The Loader Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies, procedures and operator manuals.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a loader to lift and transport bulk materials at various construction job sites and to feed conveyors and/or load trucks.
  • Climb the loader, start the engine, shift gears, press pedals and turn the steering wheel to operate the loader.
  • Move levers to lower and tilt the bucket and drive the loader to force the bucket into bulk materials.
  • Move levers to raise and tilt the bucket when filled and move levers to dump material.
  • Participate in ensuring the quality and quantity of raw materials meet established standards.
  • Ensure assigned performance indicators are met.
  • Communicate with the job Superintendent to report equipment issues to be resolved as promptly as possible.
  • Always adhere to all AEDC and OSHA rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on all job sites.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
  • Exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently.
  • Job involves sitting most of the time but also involves walking or standing for times when assisting the job operation on the ground when needed.
  • While performing duties, the employee is regularly required to communicate and hear with other employees and/or GC employees as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls.
