Job summary

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital seeks a Patient Care Assistant to join our onsite team in Dover, NH. Under licensed personnel, you will assist patients with activities of daily living and monitor vital signs, reporting concerns to nurses.

This role requires compassion, reliability, and basic documentation in the medical record. The position offers night shifts, 36 scheduled hours per week, and opportunities to grow within Mass General Brigham's hospital network.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
• BLS Certification preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred
• Massachusetts EMT-Paramedic preferred
• New Hampshire Nursing Assistant certification preferred
• Experience: 1–2 years in patient care/elder care preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Assists with basic hygiene tasks (bathing, dressing) and feeding.
• Assists with turning/repositioning and moving patients.
• Reports health concerns to nurses.

Job Summary

Salary range: $19.47 -$31.09 Pay is based on experience.

This position also comes with a $750 Sign on Bonus!

Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
• Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.

Nursing Assistant [LNA - New Hampshire] - New Hampshire Board of Nursing preferred

Experience: Experience working in patient care/elder care 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. - Knowledge of medical terminology. - Strong patient/customer service skills. - Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. - Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
