Job summary

Houston Humane Society in Houston, TX seeks a Livestock Coordinator to maintain the well-being of the livestock through hands-on care, feeding, grooming, stall cleaning, and safe, comfortable environments. You will work with multiple teams to meet established care standards.

Responsibilities include daily feeding, handling, grooming horses, disinfecting areas, documenting observations, assisting with veterinary procedures, maintaining accurate records, inventory, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Ability to safely handle livestock and adhere to welfare protocols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for livestock, including feeding and watering according to schedules and individual care plans.
• Safely handle, restrain, move, and work with livestock following safety and welfare protocols.
• Groom horses, including brushing, mane/tail care, hoof inspection, bathing.
• Clean, maintain, and disinfect stalls, paddocks, shelters, and equipment.
• Monitor animals for illness, injury, distress, or behavior changes and report concerns promptly.
• Assist with administering medications and basic treatments per plans and direction.
• Prepare animals and facilities for veterinary exams, vaccinations, and other procedures.
• Maintain accurate animal-care records and documentation.
