Job description

The Livestock and Grain Operations Clerk provides administrative, recordkeeping, and operational support across grain receiving and livestock management functions. This position is responsible for operating truck scales, accurate data entry for hog and feedlot operations, maintaining compliance and operational documentation, and supporting clear communication with suppliers and transportation personnel. Initial training will take place in Albion; the primary long-term base location will be Midway, with travel to Albion as needed.

Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Livestock & Production Recordkeeping
  • Enter daily hog unit production data (feed consumption, mortality, weights, treatments, inventory counts, etc.) into recordkeeping or farm management software.
  • Enter and maintain feedlot data, including cattle intake/outtake, weights, feed rations, and health records.
  • Assist with inventory tracking for feed, grain, and supplies.
  • Flag discrepancies in weights, counts, or data entries to management for resolution.
2. Administration, Reporting & Compliance
  • Generate daily, weekly, or monthly reports summarizing grain receiving and livestock production data.
  • Maintain accurate physical and digital filing systems for scale tickets, production logs, and compliance records.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of production and financial data.
  • Perform other clerical duties as assigned
3. Scale Operations & Grain Receiving
  • Operate truck scale to weigh incoming corn and other grain deliveries; record gross, tare, and net weights accurately.
  • Issue scale tickets and maintain organized records of all grain receipts.
  • Reconcile scale tickets and production records against delivery invoices or purchase orders.
  • Communicate with grain haulers, drivers, and suppliers regarding delivery schedules and documentation.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Work environment includes both office settings and scale house/farm facilities.
  • Must be able to handle multiple routine tasks, meet daily data-entry deadlines, and maintain detail orientation under fast-paced receiving conditions.
  • Primary position location will transition to Midway following initial training in Albion, with ongoing work performed in Albion as operational needs require.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; background in agriculture, agribusiness, or related practical experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in data entry, basic math, and standard office/farm management software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with haulers, drivers, suppliers, and internal staff.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding company data
