Interfaith Works, Inc. in Montgomery County, MD, seeks a Peer Support Specialist to join its shelter programs. Use lived experience to build trust, reduce barriers to care, and help guests identify recovery goals. You will coordinate with case managers and health services to connect guests to housing, behavioral health, and supports.

The role requires trauma-informed, harm-reduction based support, compassionate communication, and the ability to work across multiple shelter locations as needed.

Qualificações

• Lived experience relevant to the population served.
• Willingness to use lived expertise to support others.
• High school diploma or GED required; related field preferred.
• Peer Support Specialist credential preferred.
• Experience in shelter or recovery programs preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Build trusting relationships with shelter guests.
• Provide outreach, peer counseling, recovery coaching, and care coordination.
• Identify client strengths and recovery goals.
• Develop individualized recovery or wellness plans.
• Maintain timely HMIS documentation.
• Collaborate with case managers and healthcare providers.
• Support clients during major transitions.
