Job summary

FOX Weather is seeking a part-time Freelance Production Assistant in New York to support live programming, pitch stories, and coordinate video and graphic elements for air. You will edit video, write graphics, source user-generated content, and contribute to our social media presence, thriving in a fast-paced weather newsroom.

The ideal candidate has newsroom or digital production experience, basic Premiere skills, strong writing, and the ability to meet tight deadlines in breaking news coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Internship or professional experience in a newsroom, broadcast, or digital production environment.
• Basic video editing experience using Adobe Premiere or similar non-linear editing software.
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform under tight deadlines in a breaking news environment.
• Proficiency with social media platforms.
• Passion for weather news is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support producers and meteorologists by researching stories and preparing visual elements for live programming
• Attend editorial meetings and help identify the strongest video, graphics, and storytelling opportunities
• Source, verify, and clear compelling user-generated content from social media and other platforms
• Ingest, log, and edit video and sound bites
• Write clear, accurate lower thirds, banners, and video graphics with close attention to detail
• Use Adobe Premiere to edit video and graphics for air
• Coordinate with reporters and producers to manage production elements for live shots and looklives
• Stay up to date on breaking weather events and newsroom priorities
• Assist the production team with other editorial and production needs as assigned
