Job summary

Gondola in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a Technical Director to operate the video switcher and related equipment for live sporting events. You will collaborate with the Creative Producer and staff to plan and execute the live feed, graphics, and pre-game content.

The role requires fast thinking, experience with Broadcast Pix or similar systems, and the ability to read scripts, manage camera and AV gear, and deliver fan-friendly on-air presentations while maintaining equipment safety and readiness.

• Ability to read and interpret event scripts.
• Experience using video cameras and other AV production equipment.
• Experience using video editing software.
• Be customer service oriented with a fan-friendly attitude and professional appearance at all times.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Able to stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours or more.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds from time to time.
• Able to comply with safety and health code standards.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

The Technical Director will operate the video switcher and associated equipment during live sporting events and will work with the Creative Producer and other staff members in planning and implementing the live feed, videos and graphic materials, both pre-game and on the fly.

• Technical direction and video switcher operation using Broadcast Pix switcher
• Implement visual elements during live shows including proper graphics and video
• Test and prepare systems and equipment for use prior to events
• Prepare and route video and audio sources
• Offer technical and creative solutions to execute the overall vision for live productions
• Communicate show elements during live productions
• Properly operate, maintain and protect assigned equipment
• Properly strike and store equipment as designated
