Job summary

Farmer Focus is seeking a Live Receiving Operator to safely unload and load live bird cage racks from trucks, using lift equipment on-site in Liberty, VA. The role requires adherence to humane handling policies and company procedures in all weather conditions.

You will operate forklift equipment, rotate through live hang rotations, and support a clean, organized work area while meeting production timelines and safety standards. Full-time, on-site position with first shift duties.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain forklift operator certification.
• Must pass drug and alcohol test post-offer and before start of employment.
• Authorized to work in the United States under IRCA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Unload cage racks from trucks to the loading dock safely and efficiently.
• Load empty cages back onto trucks.
• Operate forklift equipment in tight, congested areas following safety policies.
• Work in all-weather environments and maintain a clean work area.
• Rotate through live hang rotations as needed.
• Assist with removing truck plastic covers and unstrapping cages.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

This position is responsible for safely and efficiently unloading and loading live bird cage racks from trucks using lift equipment in a timely manner. The role supports live receiving operations by maintaining a safe, clean work environment, following humane handling policies for live birds at all times, and complying with all applicable Farmer Focus policies .

Key Responsibilities

• Efficiently and safely unload cage racks from trucks to the loading dock and load empty racks back onto trucks.
• Operate or train to operate fork lift equipment safely in tight, congested work areas.
• Follow humane handling policies for live birds at all times.
• Work in all-weather environments, including snow, rain, ice, and sun.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Rotate through all live hang rotations as needed.
• Occasionally assist with removing truck plastic covers and unstrapping cages.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Work is performed on-site in live receiving and loading areas and may require working in all-weather environments, including snow, rain, ice, and sun. The role requires sitting for prolonged periods while operating lift equipment, maneuvering in tight and congested areas, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., assisting with removal of truck plastic covers and unstrapping cages, and working overtime as needed. Team members must follow safety requirements, humane handling policies, and all applicable PPE and company policies .
