Job description

As a member of the Live On Campus Crew, you will serve as a brand ambassador from the on-campus living experience. Along with a team of student peers, you will attend, plan and implement events for MSU on-campus residents promoting connection, engagement, inclusion, and Spartan spirit. You also will be responsible for creating social media and digital content for the Live On media platforms.

Typical Duties May Include:

  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Live On
  • Plan and implement events to support students living on campus
  • Deliver an outstanding Spartan Experience to fellow students by enthusiastically promoting the Live On community, resources available, and benefits of on-campus living
  • Capture and create content for Live On digital media platforms
  • Coordinate with other Live On team members to execute activities
  • Greet and engage with students and members of the MSU community during in-person and virtual events
  • Attend weekly Live On Campus Crew team meetings and bi-monthly training sessions

Promotional Opportunities: Live On Campus Crew Event Lead

Starting Wage: $13/hour

Average Hours: 5-10 hours per week

Typical Locations: Campus-wide; Primary reporting to MSU Union

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
  • Required to live on campus during employment as a Live On Campus Crew member
  • Demonstrate commitment to outstanding customer service
  • Positive, motivated self-starter and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  • Experience working on a diverse team, and working directly with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present information to diverse audiences, specifically racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities
  • Desire to contribute to diversity and inclusion conversations along with programing.
  • Comfortable both capturing content for social media an talking on camera for video project, virtual events and social media.
  • Availability to work some nights and/or weekends
Preferred Qualifications
  • Creative thinker with knowledge of social media platform guidelines for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Critical thinker with strengths in problem solving, proactivity and attention to detail
  • Timely response to communication from Live On team members and campus partners via email, phone and text
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Possess a valid U.S. Issued Driver’s License and be able to meet and maintain the University’s driving standards
  • Prior experience in event planning

Physical Demands

  • The job requires a variable amount of on-campus travel and time working in outdoor campus settings along with working virtually.
  • The job requires occasional lifting, transport and installation of materials at event sites.
  • The job requires consistent maintenance and management of Live On inventory space.
