Job summary

Sinclair, Inc. seeks a Chief Engineer to lead engineering for its national news production operation. You will own reliability, performance, scalability, and lifecycle of live-production systems, coordinating with editorial, production, and Corporate technology teams.

You will manage incident leadership, architecture, budgets, and vendor relations to ensure 24/7 on-air capability and newsroom workflows.

Qualifications

Five or more years of progressive experience in television news engineering or equivalent live-media environment.
Hands-on experience administering or supporting Ross OverDrive automated production control in live-news environments.
Working expertise with Ross XPression Tessera or Tessera One and XPression-based workflows.
Broad control-room engineering experience with cameras, audio/video systems, routing, and monitoring.
Strong knowledge of broadcast signal flow, baseband and IP media, and troubleshooting.
Proficiency supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms and diagnosing failures.
Ability to analyze complex operational problems, communicate with stakeholders, and drive corrective work.
Associate degree or higher in IT, electronics, CS, or broadcast engineering.

Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end technical health and operational readiness of the production environment.
Lead, develop, schedule, and set priorities for engineering staff and on-call coverage.
Serve as senior engineering SME and incident leader during high-pressure events.
Collaborate with editorial, production, operations, Corporate IT, and cybersecurity teams.
Translate business needs into documented architectures, procedures, and roadmaps.
Engineer and maintain the control-room ecosystem and associated workflows.
Maintain signal-flow drawings, network diagrams, and support documentation.
Coach engineers and promote troubleshooting and safety practices.
