Job summary

NewsNation, based in New York, is seeking a freelance Audio Operator (A1) for our national newscasts. The role is part-time and requires IBEW membership. You will mix live broadcasts, set up RF mics, and follow director commands in a fast-paced environment at our New York studios.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of live TV audio experience, strong teamwork, and proficiency with AZ Edit and MS Office tools. Schedule includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays with overtime potential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations.
• Previous live show audio mixing experience.
• Able to multitask and collaborate in a team environment.
• Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Listen to director’s commands and mix live shows accurately.
• Route audio to remotes, set up RF microphones and IFBs; proficient in AZ Edit.
• Troubleshoot issues during live broadcasts and work around problems.
• Communicate and document effectively with the team.
• Handle varied schedules including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays with overtime.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
