Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA seeks Full-time Flex Houseparents, a two‑person couple who will reside on campus and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of 8–13 students.

Couples must be legally married for at least two years, both spouses aged 27+, and have experience with youth. Position includes on‑campus housing, meals, and a structured schedule with nine days on/three off, leading in devotions and activities.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person couple must be legally married for at least two years.
• Both spouses aged 27 or older.
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet restrictions: fish and one dog from approved breeds.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Comfort leading daily devotions and Judeo-Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students.

Responsibilities

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship.
• Managing household routines and student schedules.
• Administering medications and ensuring student wellness.
• Driving students to activities and planning developmental and recreational activities with students.
• Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel.
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting.
• Initially supporting various student homes with a nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off.
• Transitioning to a Placed Houseparent role, living with the same group of students.
