Job summary

Milton Hershey School in Hershey, PA, seeks full-time Flex Houseparents—a married couple—to live in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision and support for a group of 8-13 students. The role centers on creating a structured, family-like environment that fosters academic, emotional, and social development.

The position starts with nine days on duty followed by three days off, with progression to a placed houseparent living with the same students.

Qualifications

• Experience working or volunteering with youth.
• Two-person role for couples married at least two years.
• Both spouses age 27 or older.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to become certified to drive student home vans.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Commitment to a smoke-free and weapon-free campus; no alcohol on duty.
• Pet limitations: only fish and one dog of approved breeds.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrated integrity and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision and mentorship to students.
• Manage household routines and student schedules.
• Administer medications and monitor student wellness.
• Drive students to activities and participate in development and recreation.
• Lead daily devotions and accompany students to Sunday Chapel.
• Oversee budgeting and household reporting.
