Job summary

Habitat Learn Group is seeking captioners to attend in-person classes at universities or colleges in San Jose, California. You will type information on a laptop in an academic setting and produce verbatim captions of the instructor's speech, enabling students to participate fully.

Successful candidates will have at least a post-secondary education (or be close to graduating), a typing speed of 60+ wpm, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a supportive academic

Qualifications

• Completed post secondary education or about to graduate.
• Typing speed of 60+ wpm.
• Comfortable in an academic environment.
• Sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities.
• Use of own personal laptop.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Ability to analyze and process information quickly.
• Able to work independently, being on time, dependable and able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Type information on a laptop in an academic setting.
• Captioning- creating a transcription using Messenger Pigeon and manually, verbatim of what the instructor said.
